In 2483, a Karkussian Widow made a near shot-for-shot remake of the film, without permission, the only substantive differences being a lower budget and the addition of a romantic subplot. Critics in Karkuss praised the film for it's originality and unique concept. United Studios sued the woman almost immediately, however, at the time, international copyright law was incredibly poorly defined. The ensuing controversy would lead seven months later to the 2483 International Concord Treaty on the Enforcement of International Intellectual Property Protection.
 
The drama of the events lead Jark to take a thirteen year break from filmmaking.
