Radzgau Strategic Services International (R.S.S.I. or RSSI), formerly known as Radzgau's Private Army, is a Ruskvian multinational corporation primarily spanning worldwide across all three continents within the world. It primarily provides private security and military services to national governments as well as smaller non-government militias. As of 2522, the RPA is the largest mercenary group in the entirety of Oikia.

History

Initial Years: Radzgau's Commandership (2140-???)

In the year 2140, Radzgau's Private Army would be founded under the leadership of Karsten Radzgau, a veteran who wanted to serve the Tempestian Empire even after his military service. Initially, it was composed of mostly Skavens, along with the few humans within Tempest, working side-by-side in order to help build a small training center outside the Capital. Recruitment primarily spread through the word of mouth, and within 7 years of its founding, had grown to around 500 men. Finances were initially little, with little government support, so they primarily built up the RPA's first center by themselves while hiring themselves out to providing security and as mercenaries to help with the public's daily needs.

An Unproven Army: Nehraus' Leadership (2217-???)

By the time the year 2217 came about, the RPA had expanded throughout the entirety of the Empire of Tempest as they had grown to 1,500 men. During this time, their equipment would be modernized, swapping out arquebuses to muskets in order to continue to be combat-effective when the time came. With the death of Karsten Radzgau, Detlav Nehraus would be selected to take up his place in lieu of the Executive Board acting as placeholder. Under his administration, the additional construction of recruitment centers and training centers would be accelerated as the Empire of Tempest prepared to go to war with its southern neighbors. The Mobile Medical Corps would also be established at this time to provide medical aid to its mercenaries on the frontlines. Although it had much to gain from support one side or another during the peasant rebellions, the RPA stood by as it wasn't prepared for direct engagement. After the Tempestian Empire lost in its war in the battle of Uibri (with RPA participation), the RPA established itself as an independent organization separate from the Tempestian government.

The First Glory Years: Falkenrecht's Leadership (2272-2326)

With the resignation of Nehraus for health reasons, Violetta Falkenrecht would take command as the third Supreme Commander of the RPA in the year 2272. Under her command, the RPA would begin to stabilize its finances post-war as well as expand RPA services outside of the Tempestian Empire under the Falkenrecht Doctrine. For the most part, this expansion primarily involved Western Alaxian nations. Within Tempest, they were hired to begin conducting explorations within its jungles in order to find resources.

In 2301, the RPA would be contracted by the 3rd Order under Yelizaveta to clear out the Eastern Wastes of bandits as part of a deal in exchange for acquiring modern equipment. This contract would evolve into a humanitarian mission as instead of bandits being discovered, that there were only Daevites struggling to survive in the wasteland. After negotiations between the remaining Daevites and RPA leadership, the RPA would come to take approximately 20,000 Daevites in to resettle them elsewhere. Some of these Daevites would also come to join the RPA's ranks, primarily in logistics though some did directly join the RPA's ranks.

In 2307, the RPA would again be contracted by the 3rd Order as part of a coalition against Suton, with which it performed adequately.

Viva El Mercenario: Von Plettenborch's Leadership (2330-???)

Between the years 2330 and 2339, the entirety of the RPA would expand once more to over 8,000 troops as it began travelling south into Lothyran-puppeted Inmero in order to begin recruiting Inmerics and Sinkajans into its army in preparation to aid Lothyran in its regional conquests. Linking up with the main Lothyran army, it distinguished itself in combat in the Atlantian campaign as Von Plettenborch conducted a 4-pronged offensive to drive Ionaean troops to the sea. By the end of the Second Coalition in 2344, the RPA had grown to over 57,000 troops, having conducted extensive recruitment from countries across Alaxia.

His leadership continued with a remarkable uptick in recruitment, new recruitment mostly from mercenaries hired within the Republic Stahlzustand. His leadership afterward was tested in the final stages of the Third Coalition in the Bazir Campaign, as the RPA was sent into Azyeri as part of a contract with the Lothernians in combatting a joint army formed between the Azyeri and Fazarians. This would prove to be a fatal error, as in a battle between giants that the RPA failed dramatically in an offensive on the left flank and would be quickly routed. By the end of the campaign in 2380, the RPA would come to lose about half of its army (approx. 65,000 mercenaries).

More distinct details between 2380 and 2394 has been lost to time, primarily as a result of a fire in the RSSI's headquarters in Ruskvia. It is known, however, that von Plettenborch soon afterwards resigned while the RPA went into state of hiatus with regards to its private army activities and committed to damage control. During this period, the Executive Board took over private security and private military operations.

An Oikian Pheonix: Kuropatkov's Leadership (2394-2420)

Arkady Kuropatkov would come to take leadership in 2394 after a few years of the recruitment process, to which he immediately declared in a press conference in Ruskvia that he would pick up the RPA by its bootstraps and restore it to what it once was. Questions went unanswered as he soon left after delivering his statements, leaving many investors in the dark.

Although the original plans were destroyed, it was known that between 2394 and 2400 that the RPA was planning with Erdelicht to forcibly capture some islands belonging to Tupalei'i. However, they were soon scrapped owing to "practical limitations".

In the year 2400, the RPA intervened within the 3rd Order's 1st Civil War on the side of Lyamin's 4th Order. Much of their support came in the form of weapons, munitions, food rations, and medical equipment shipments, though a small contingent of RPA intervened in the civil war to also directly distribute them, conduct humanitarian operations, and light military operations in the form of artillery fire support. Of note, however, the small-scale operations in light of the country-wide civil war failed to meaningly have an effect in mitigating widespread death and destruction. This contingent would later on temporarily lose contact with the RPA High Command with the defeat of the 4th Order against the 3rd Order, however they were able to retreat in an orderly manner along the Kiof River back into Suton without incident.

The same year, Kuropatkov also attended Howard Wilhelm's funeral along with other Executive Board members. They were known to be good friends, both in business and in personal friendship.

A number of quality of life reforms were made on part of the RPA in 2400 as well, installing music jukeboxes and theaters with motion pictures at all facilities run by the RPA in order to help provide mercenaries access to entertainment no matter what country they were in. The Mobile Medical Corps were also strengthened after a deal with the Ruskvy Union in obtaining vaccines as well as a boost in medical personnel after a recent recruitment drive.

In 2401, Kuropatkov sent a delegate to attend Yelizaveta's funeral despite the now strained relationship between the RPA and the 3rd Order. However, this funeral would never come to pass for certain reasons.

In 2404, the RPA opened up its second headquarters in Kaer Valor after a series of negotiations with the Kiavalarian government over the course of 2 years.

In 2408, the RPA opened its Sales and Trading Component as a means of laundering money through posing as a stock brokerage firm. While legitimized through the hiring of stock analysts as the core of the component, profits were mostly funneled straight into funding the mercenary group. The same year, the RPA negotiated investments in Yuvani's industries in exchange for propaganda distribution despite conflicting ideologies of both parties, of which were carried out without issue.

In 2409, the naval arm of the RPA was formed (named Radzgau's Private Navy) after a negotiated deal with the Ruskvy Union, comprising of 1 pre-dreadnought battleship, 1 light cruiser, and 2 torpedo gunboats. This would later be bolstered with additional ships manufactured by Ceironia, comprising of an additional 15 destroyers and 9 cruisers.

In the outbreak of the Great War in 2409, the RPA refrained from intervening in the war in a bid to preserve its built-up global network of private security and military purposes. The RPA was also contracted within the first year to help train the Kingdom of Karkuss' troops in exchange for corporate expansion into the country. Also of note was a close call during the Battles of Ruskvia in the Ruskvy Front, where the RPA's headquarters was spared after brief negotiations with local Ceironian forces.

In the fall of 2409 into 2410, the RPA sent a small team to support a Vamu research team in researching Basalites in Southeastern Alaxia, mostly providing support in the form of logistics.

The RPA negotiated a contract with the Vamu over the course of 2410 into 2411 that involved stationing troops for the duration of the Great War in a bid to ensure the Vamu's neutrality. 55,000 mercenaries at the time would be deployed there, both manning border defensive positions as well as training with Vamu troops in anticipation of a conflict with either the GDI or OFN. This number was originally set to be 89,000, however this contract coincided with another one during the 2nd Cralasian Civil War in the wake of yet another collapse of the 3rd Order.

A joint operation with the United Republic (named Operation Aurora) in 2411 would be conducted to attempt to determine the situation in the former territories of the 3rd Order and to launch humanitarian operations as needed. A joint force of 34,000 mercenaries, 16 warships, and 260 artillery and mortar pieces would be deployed from Winterhome to Freysia, where they successfully landed without incident. However, this operation would be temporarily delayed due to an encounter with a makeshift force of a few hundred armed children. In the aftermath of the encounter, the RPA would assume temporary administration of the city of Freysia until it was peacefully transferred back to the 3rd Order in 2412 after brief negotiations that involved a security contract in the 3rd Order over the course of the Great War.

The same year, the RPA would come to expand its services to central Alaxia, mostly Azyeri. The RPA would also begin conducting corporate espionage on "competing" mercenary groups with the founding of the Intelligence Service, though under the guise of conducting research and development on its security products.

In 2413, the RPA would expand its services to Acoria, more specifically Ceironia, in light of its pre-existing business transactions with regards to naval ships. Additionally, the army would come to be reformed to cater to niche combat roles in specialized warfare rather than direct combat like in previous campaigns. However, these reforms would fail to have any meaningful impact due to their primary role as a force multiplier in its contracts.

In 2414, the RPA Air Service would be formed in the aftermath of purchases of 20 aircraft from the Vamu in the midst of the RPA's contract. Additionally, the Rycker Brigade was formed as a means of providing privatized special forces units, drawing from the best within the ranks of the wider RPA. They were generally expected to fulfill unconventional warfare and reconnaissance roles, though due to the RPA's neutrality would not be battle-tested. Also of note, beach volleyball was first invented by RPA mercenaries while in the beaches of Cralas...somehow.

In the wake of the oncoming global economic collapse in 2415, the RPA conducted naval exercises within oceanic Ceironian territory. Of note, the Ceironian government raised suspicions, however went through as the exercises began without incident. The following year, it was reported that the RPA's fuel reserves were greater than expected despite having conducted regular purchases, while a few ships were spotted due northeast of Hveden. Outwardly, the wider security and private military services launched Operation Hegemon, a business strategy aimed at consolidating the RPA's already niche role as the premier mercenary group through acquisitions of struggling groups. The Vamu, Kiavalar, Karkuss, and Ruskvy pledged financial support to the RPA to keep it afloat during the collapse, while the Vamu specifically permitted the RPA to keep troops there free of charge.

In 2417, Supreme Commander Kuropatkov and a few men would board the Seraphine in her maiden voyage, departing west. They would be reported missing in the aftermath of its sinking.

In 2418, the RPA found itself in hot water as a result of the 2418 Palakkinen Border Crisis. Though it took no active part in the initial aggression on part of Palakkinen nor the negotiations that ended hostilities between it, Empherias, and Hveden, it had entered into a contract with the aggressor the previous year with the primary intent to train Palakkine forces. Its support of Palakkinen over the course of the crisis, thusly, caused a diplomatic spat with Ahitereira and permanently cut off all relations between the RPA and Ahitereira.

In 2419, the RPA would come to acquire amphibious landing docks from Ceironia while also modernizing its naval forces, permitting it to develop Ceironian shock doctrines in amphibious landing operations. The following year, it was revealed in leaked documents details concerning negotiations between leadership of the RPA and Qusqonvamu concerning naval developments. However, these negotiations while fruitful, had not materialized in later RPA naval forces.

In 2424, the RPA would take advantage of Ceironia's fleet modernizations in acquiring 65 ships and submarines.

Through Jazz, Economic Crisis, & Competition: Milgreve-Auchinstein's Leadership

In the year 2525, the RPA would launch a night warfare exercise with the Rycker Brigade along with the RPA's artillery elements and armored forces in Qusqonvamu. The same year, Supreme Commander Vladilena Milgreve-Auchinstein would take supreme commandership of the RPA, replacing the temporary command of the Executive Board with her own.

In the onset of the Ceironian Civil War, security and mercenary forces stationed in Latango and Horyuxia would find themselves caught up in the crossfire between Ceironian syndicalist and nationalist factions within. It was especially chaotic with casualties sustained as a result of Latango's close proximity to newly established front lines, risking thousands of lives or more. It was such that Operation Halcyonic Halation was put into action on part of the Supreme Commander to mitigate them. Through the improvised creation of a specialized supply line between Horyuxia and Latango an addition to extensive communications with these factions, RPA personnel and their families would manage to be safely evacuated for transfer to other bases of operation. A few thousand Ceironians, for various reasons, also joined the retreating convoy and were later integrated into the RPA in non-combat roles.

A naval exercise, dubbed "Operation Sharktooth", was conducted off the coast of the Ruskvy Union in 2334. It would come to consist of naval maneuvers, live-fire exercises, anti-air and anti-submarine drills, and topped off with a naval wargame between its own forces.

Of lack of note is Yelizaveta's funeral. Despite its relatively complicated relationship with the Cralasians, Milgreve-Auchinstein attended the funeral along with the RPA's remaining personnel in Cralas.

When Ciyuga fractured into civil war between the Victory Front and the Cabal, the RPA deployed most of its mercenary forces to aid the Victory Front in 2336 after a meeting between Milgreve-Auchinstein and Xiuhcoatland. Their role in the civil war was quite significant, especially in the Vernikian Front, where the RPA would support VF forces both on the ground and in the sea in driving out Cabal forces from the region. On a smaller level, 5,000 mercenaries would be sent to Qusqo at the behest of Intivaw Qoya in bolstering their defenses in the event of an expanding conflict.

Of the course of the 2330s, the entertainment scene within the RPA's ranks skyrocketed. The popularity of swing and jazz had drawn in aspiring musicians from across the RPA, with their previous life as mercenaries providing both the luxuries of the high life and their experiences as unique source material that inspired their works. During this time, a number of musicians and bands such as Dietrich Cangor, Amelie Kathencke, Viachaslau Kovalchuk, Khirill and the Musical Mail, and Radzgau's Private Orchestra would come into relative prominence.

The natural result was its coverage in global newspapers as a bizarre phenomenon that drew ire from nationalists while being heralded by some newspapers in humanizing war. The actual impact of the music scene, however, remains unclear as to whether it had a quantifiable impact on the RPA's image or whether it impacted operations.

In the final days of her tenure, the RPA would step up private security business operations in Ceironia to include many other major cities with a high degree of success.

We Modernize: Rescherdorst's Leadership

Upon Keydrich Rescherdorst's ascession in 2441, he promptly made efforts to rapidly modernize the RPA into a more technologically advanced force over the course of the 2440s. This would come to include large aircraft purchases and training from Ceironia and large armored vehicle purchases from the HKA and the Ciyugans, and civilian department reorganizations.

2441 would also mark even further expansion of the RPA's private security and mercenary services, expanding its business across the entirety of the Holy Tempest Empire and Ceironia after separate meetings with High Marshal Tarasov and Emperor Foust that would formalize business partnerships with both nations. Later business expansions would occur elsewhere in the world during the 2440s, though not as significant as the 2441 expansions.

During this time, a high quantity of prisoners of war were purchased from Ladros for the purposes of pressing them into service in both combat and non-combat roles within the RPA's ranks. Pay inequity was significant, with the average PoW making 30% less than the average mercenary during this time. It would only be in later reforms that these PoWs would be treated akin to their own nearing the end of their service.

Of note, the RPA was an early adopter of mechanization tactics through its large scale purchases of mechanized equipment. During training exercises, such as in Operation Crimson Moon Bravo, it would come to explore the concept of the tank desant, with squads of soldiers riding into the thick of battle on top of tanks. Whether this tactic would prove successful was not known, as the RPA had not entered any conflicts at this time.

In 2445, the RPA would officially rebrand itself as Radzgau Strategic Services International, owing to the new heights it had achieved over the course of its services.

In 2447, the RSSI entered into negotiations with the HTE and the local Vermi in the midst of the Third OFN-Cralas War in the Vernikian coast.

RSSI Executive Board

The RSSI Executive Board is a Board of Directors that manages all affairs of the primary mercenary group and security service as well as its subsidiary "projects". Contrary to most other boards, major shareholders are primarily not included in the Executive Board, though their needs are addressed through ad hoc committees held periodically.
