Following the assassination of former [[Liberal Party of Empherias|Liberal]] party leader [[Jack Bastion]], Turner was selected with unanimous approval to succeed him on 3 November 2494. He contested five elections as Liberal leader: [[2495 Empherias general election|2495]], [[2499 Empherias general election|2499]], [[2501 Empherias general election|2501]], [[2506 Empherias general election|2506]], and [[2507 Empherias general election|2507 general elections]]. He would win only the 2501 and 2506 elections.
