Alessand Klemens Braune (29 June 2268 – TBD) was a Crimslettian politician and statesman who served as President of the Hveden Federation from 2314 to 2318, and as Finance Secretary of the Hveden Federation from 2302 to 2314. He served as the Crimslette senator from 2302 to 2314 and 2318 to 2322, briefly being out of office during his presidency.

Braune was born in Creimsety, the capital of Crimslette, to father Edwin Braune and mother Paula Tescaar. He attended the University of Creimsety from 2288 to 2291.
Career[edit | edit source]
Braune would join the Unity Party of Crimslette in 2292 and would attempt to get into parliament in the 2293 general election unsuccessfully. Despite this, he would become Mayor of Creimsety in 2294, and would get re-elected in 2297, and 2300. He gained significant notoriety during his term for his speeches and significant reforms, reducing debt and getting Creimsety into a budget surplus for the first time in over fifty years. He also help lead the Unity Party's campaign to join the Hveden Federation and was an outspoken supporter of increasing ties to Kusfeld. As Maar Skalgar, the new President of the Hveden Federation, was assembling his cabinet, Braune was selected as Finance Secretary.
Presidential bid[edit | edit source]
After the 2310 presidential election, Maar Skalgar won a third term but stated he would not seek a fourth in 2314. Braune threw his name into the ring, although he was notable for having disagreements with the People Party, the main coalition partner to the United Party. Early polling showed Braune in last place amongst the three contenders in the 2314 United Party primary. During the first vote, Braune came second with 1,998 behind Karl Seiger's 2,234 and ahead of Klemens Freitag's 1,148. Freitag was eliminated, primarily because he wasn't as well known as the other two contenders. A second vote was scheduled but cancelled when Karl Seiger unexpectedly dropped out. This left Braune as the only candidate and was made the candidate in February 2314.
Braune would win the election with 32 million votes and 36.47% of the vote. This was the lowest vote share for any winning president ever by a degree of 10 percentage points. It was a decrease of over 24 percentage points from the previous United party presidential result in 2310, and a decrease in 12 million votes. The margin between first and second was just 2.27pp. Braune took office on 1 July 2314. He was 46 years old upon election.
Because of the terrible result despite the victory, Braune stated that he would only serve one term. It is also speculated that Braune made this decision because of negative backlash from the People Party coalition partners that disapproved of some decisions.
