The Jùr River, also commonly known as Veljùr (Great Jùr) and alternatively as Jjùra is the longest river in West Alaxia and the main river of Sinkayya. It has historically played a part in the trade and cultural exchange between central and west alaxia, being both the main route of access during the bokanist conquests, as well as the belegar wars.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
The modern name "Jùr" comes from the sinkajjì term of the same name, itself a corruption of the old sinkajjì Xhura/Xhyura, which descends from even older Kxwuʼrayh, thought to come from Akxwoʼnʼrayis roughly translated as "master waters" or "chief waters". The Thalatene name for the river, Kurays, comes from the same root.
