Council of the Elite

The Council of the Elite was the former legislature of the Kingdom of Empherias from 1973 until 2110 when it was reformed into the First Parliament of Empherias. All members of the council were unelected, being appointed for life by the monarch or the Prime Minister subject to some veto processes, or being appointed via hereditary inheritance from a previous member's estate. The council had no set minimum or maximum number of members which saw it go from some 200 members in 1973 to 581 members by it's dissolution in the early 22nd century.

Members of the council often went by the honorary suffix MCE, standing for Member of the Council of the Elite. Despite the Council of the Eight going by the same acronym, that legislatures members used the suffix MCVIII.
