Empherias Healthcare Service

The Empherias Healthcare Service (EHCS) is the umbrella term for the publicly funded healthcare systems of Empherias. These systems include the General Practitioners Union and Service (eGP-US); the Dentistry Association (eDA); Mental Health Union and Service (eMH-US); Opticians and Otolaryngologist Union and Service (eOO-US); Medical Advice Service (eMA-S); and the Accident and Emergency Union and Service (eAE-US). Established in 2401, the system was funded out of a general taxation known as National Insurance. The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery - a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident. There are some specifics in the guidelines of what is and isn't covered under this however. Some prescriptions may charge patients at a cap set by the High Kingdoms of Alaxia, while optional surgeries may not be covered and would require extra private costs.
