The Grain War was a conflict between the Kingdom of Kusfeld and several disloyal dukes and states in Dazulia and Nacrilia who refused to supply grain following the 2278 Hweins famine. King Freinz II of Kusfeld, who was crowned in 2276, faced an early test of power with the Hweins famine but did not want to anger local Kusfeldic farmers with a tax. Therefore, he ordered the seizure of grain in major duchies and states across Dazulia and Nacrilia. In 2279, the 4th Duke of Orbogne and the 6th Duke of Greusorte were the first to rally against the government and raised a small army to engage the government officials. Battles took place until 2280, leading to the death of over 10,000 people, until both dukes were captured, and other disloyal dukes surrendered. Orbogne and Greusorte's duchies were dissolved, while other disloyal states faced varying degrees of dissolution or partition. In the aftermath of the war, taxes upon these areas seized by the governments were increased moreso than expected, and Kusfeld strengthened it's power over the minorities within the nation by introducing several laws aiming to populate these areas with native Kusfelds.
