Grensal Republic

Republic of Grensalbourg, known primarily as the Grensal Republic, and sometimes the Mijguer Republic, is a defunct political entity that attempted to become the legitimate government over Grensalbourg between August 2490 and July 2491. Republican sentiment in the country caused tensions to start over the looming personal union with the Hveden Federation in the late 2480s. Once the union began, the 2489–2491 Grensalbourg personal union protests took place across the country with the government unable to take action due to a hung parliament. These protests led to a near-serious attempt to establish a republic in the town of Mijguer, on the opposite side of the river Ewynn. The Liberal party won the elections in Grensalbourg in 2491 which saw them take firm action and dissolve the breakaway state in July.
