Republic of Durbinia

The Republic of Durbinia was a country in Alaxia. It was established in 13, succeeding the Old State, and dissolved in 1949 to become the Southern Empire of Karkuss.

History

The old monarchy is abolished in 13 as Thine (aged 31) becomes President of the new Republic of Durbinia. The King's former kids form a council of nine with Thine the head of it (upper chamber of parliament) Compromise with Merchants to reunite the country, kept road and irrigation funding but cut taxes directly on merchant products.

Mounting tensions in parliament

In 25, Njer becomes Prime Minister but was stabbed in parliament after tensions over tariff proposals.

In 36, Thine begins his first major reform, the religious tolerance act, which barely passes the lower house the Country Assembly.

They create the Durbinia Trading Assembly, which main's goal is to run trade for the nation and create ports, but the CA is split on the amount of funding

The Death of Thine

Thine is dying and needs to pick a successor. He dies aged 96 in 78.

Egor, Thine's best friend, becomes President and orders the creation of a new election for leader every 5 years.

78 XY legislative election

Equality Faction received 68 seats. Mishalia Faction received 25 seats. The People's Faction received 43 seats. The Liberty Faction received 89 seats. (89/225; 39.55%) Ive, head of the Liberty Faction, became Prime Minister.

81 XY presidential election

Egor doesn't run in the 1st presidential election saying he wants to set example of changing powers without violence.

Yugo, aged 85, the old heir to the throne, received 822 votes; Ives received 4,841, and Thine III the descendant of old President Thine, received 9,337 votes and became the 3rd President. Thine III orders term limits for all elected peoples.

107 XY legislative election

The People's Faction received 74 seats, the authoritarian and conservative Pro-Anternian Faction received 7 seats, the Pro-Devnik faction received 40 seats. (74/121; 61.16%). In the local elections, The PF won 220, PA won 118, PD won 149, and Independents won 37. Soon after, the Pro-Anternian Faction reformed into the Authoritarians of Durbinia Faction (Acerts).

110 XY presidential election

People's Faction candidate won 65,066 votes, the Acrets candidate won 32,946 votes, the Devnik candidate won 22,987 votes, and Merchants won just 4,001 votes. The PF candidate (Iser) won

Reforms to the system

The lower chamber, the Country Assembly, became the People's Assembly. The upper Council of Nine became the Senate for larger land regions. During this process, the Devniks became the Nobility Faction.

115 XY senate election

The People's Faction received 3 seats, but then implodes and collapses. The Acrets won 6 seats, Independents won 1, and the Nobility Faction won 11 seats and won control. The Acrets go through huge reform from authoritarian to libertarian.

121 XY legislative election

Within the People's Assembly, the Independents won 87 seats, the Nobility Faction 103, the Durbinia Faction 110 (evolution of the People's Faction) and the Acrets won 224 seats to win. (224/524; 42.75%)

122 XY senate election

The Durbinia Faction won 40 seats, the Nobility Faction won 29, the Acrets won 52 to win control.

122 XY presidential election

The Acrets won 34,790 votes, the Nobility won 28,618 votes, the Merchants won 16,539 votes, and the Durbinian Faction led by Iser, wins 45,053 votes and wins re-election. Ahitereira funds Acrets-leaning parties and candidates (pushing Conservative values). Durbinian Faction and Acrets agree on stuff and compromise.

148 XY senate election

The DF won 80, NF won 35, Acrets won 53. The DF take control of the senate

154 XY presidential election

Kasakos party candidate won 22,836 votes; Anternian Vecory candidate won 29,648; the Mercenary candidate won 53,974; Thine VI won 69,543 votes; Pietrone won 73,999 votes. Pietrone won election and becomes President and in a compromise, Thine VI becomes Head of the Assembly and Prime Minister in 155.

Anti-Acrets in the senate call for Pietrone to step down or they rebel, but Pietrone advocates for unity and declares Thine as equal

155 XY legislative election

Thine Coalition won 115 seats, Anti-Pietrone won 65 seats, the Pro-Pietrone faction won 45 seats. Thine becomes PM through the legislative election officially. (115/225; 51.11%)

Esoka rallies against Pietrone, while Thine VI and 95% of the assembly keep President of Pietrone as the Head of the Senate.

160 XY senate election

Independents win 2, Anti-Pietrones win 2, Pro-Pietrones win 9, and Thine Coalition wins 14 seats.

Death of Pietrone

Pietrone dies in 177 XY and Julio, his successor, is more peaceful.

Esoka wants to become leader and runs for President

180 XY presidential election

Julio wins only 37,987 votes while Esoka wins 87,013 and becomes the 5th President.

Death of Thine VI

He announces he won't run again and then is assassinated by a Kloresan

Ifen is Prime Minister

221 XY, Ifen becomes Prime Minister. The Acrets become Conservative but they implement a freer economy.
