==Etymology==
The modern name "Jùr" comes from the [[Sinkayyi Languagelanguage|sinkajjì]] term of the same name, itself a corruption of the old sinkajjì ''Xhura/Xhyura'', which descends from even older ''Kxwuʼrayh'', thought to come from ''Akxwoʼnʼrayis'' meaning "master waters" or "chief waters".
