Grand Justiciar Beleth had consolidated power throughout 2240 and 2241, and the Emperor of Lothyran was executed on 3 March 2241. The first troops crossed the borders, beginning the Bordo Campaign, in 2242.

The Empire of Lothyran had recently been defeated by Azyeri, and this political vacuum saw Grand Justiciar Beleth von Kaladriel seize power in a coup d'etat against the emperor. His political agenda was to free all surrounding countries of their monarchies and free the people of Alaxia.

Justiciar Beleth amassed an army of 600,000 men and took on every major power in western Alaxia in a coalition.
Beleth's army of 690,000 men would defeat a coalition force of 650,000 men in the Battle of Bashekh Desert, the largest battle in history. The Lothyranians trashed the coalition forces and then moved to defeat a further 300,000 Quadi-Lazarian men. With this power, Beleth would go virtually unchallenged and the first coalition against him (Azyeri, Quadi, Theon, Tempest, and Urbaxia) dissolved.
