It was the first legislative election held during the term of a president and not simultaneously with a presidential election, although [[2452 High Kingdoms elections|other provincial, federal, and devolved elections]] did take place. No single party won a majority of seats, and the incumbent government, known as the [[Golden Coalition]], received a combined 259 seats - short 7 for a majority.
