On December 7th, 2521, a Ginsukyoan force crossed the border into Fazarian Tuzal, engaging the local defenders. The Ginsukyoan forces numbered over 365,000 infantry, supported by thousands of armored vehicles, hundreds of artillery pieces, and over two hundred and sixty aircraft. The Fazarian defenders numbered 500,000 better trained and equipped ground infantry, supported by thousands of aircraft and tens of thousands of armored vehicles. While the invaders fought valiantly, and had superior artillery, they were nonetheless driven back to the border.

Days later, on December 22nd, Thraxian forces conducted a suspected attempt to seize superior Ceironian equipment for use in the war, which would rapidly escalate into open warfare across Thrax. This fighting was supported by "Operation ZeusSpros", the largest cyber warfare attack in history. Within minutes across the WAUF, rail was disrupted, pipelines shut down, power grids overloaded, telecommunications jammed, satellites overheated, and digital banks hacked. While on paper the Thraxian airforce appeared even to the Ceironian aircraft deployed in the region, it was none the less beaten allowing Ceironian ground forces contested air support. With the exception of submarines, the Thraxian navy was quickly destroyed by far superior Ceironian forces. Vastly superior trained and equipped Ceironian ground forces managed to quickly overwhelm the far numerically superior Thraxian ground forces. Ceironian forces rapidly seized central Thrax, as the Thraxian Army (Thraxianische Heer) took massive casualties, losing over 112,000 men by the end of the month, though managing to hold onto the capital of New Dinsmark.

August would see a poorly planned Atlantian air raid against the Fazarian islands to their North. Just 50 Atlantian bombers would meet resistance from over 800 Fazarian aircraft, being quickly overwhelmed and shot down. Only 2 Fazarian casualties are reported. This air raid would be shortly followed by the Ozge Stadium bombing, linked to the "Thraxian Liberation Army", a paramilitary group with ties to the Thraxian state. As the bombing was in the middle of a game, tens of thousands of Fazarian civilians would die, prompting prime minister Salgado to declare war. Jimaria would quickly issue formal declarations against both Atlantia and Thraxia. Along with this, Thraxian Partisans and Insurgents began to harass Ceironian supplies, placing mines and other explosives on roads and bridges, among other tactics.

On September 7th, Ceironian and Jimarian forces would launch a joint "Operation PoseidonOkeanos" against remaining Thraxian holdouts. While the remains of the Thraxian airforce were able to put up an impressive resistance in the skies, ground forces would continue to be battered, Thrax taking over a hundred thousand further casualties to just a few thousand between Ceironia and Jimaria. Thraxian forces would be further pushed back toward their largest cities. Poseidon would be accompanied by a third assault on Makise, and while Ginsukyoan airforces were decimated, losing dozens of planes to only a single confirmed Jimarian loss, ground forces continued to hold out. Ginsukyo maintained slight ground numerical superiority, though were as unable to break out of the city and retake loss territory as Jimarians were unable to capture Makise.

In October, Atlantian ground forces would begin moving to Makise, as Ginsukyo began to prepare a fallback line if the city fell.
