The 2388 Ya Kaicede was the third season of the competition, since its formation in 2386. The 2388 edition consisted of an entirely new format, adding a second level to the Ahitereiran Katabola pyramid. A pre-season cup between the bottom 8 from the 2387 league and the 22 newly invited teams would be what would be implemented as a means to decide who would be in the second level of the pyramid and who would get to stay in the first, this Cup would later evolve into the yearly Ahitereira da Kaicede Cup.

The first tier would be renamed from Ahitereira da Kaicede (English: League of Ahitereira) to Una ya Kaicede (English: First League), to reflect the creation of the Taş ya Kaicede. With the name Ahitereira da Kaicede being utilized for the whole competition as whole.
