The 2472 Nieuwbourg assembly election was held on 25 January 2472, to elect 50 members to the Nieuwbourg Assembly. Saria Strewn would step down after 8 years as mayor, like her predecessor Eleanor Marines. Some also speculate she stepped down fearing an election defeat. She resigned her post as an assembly member after 16 years. Em Leks Paar would continue as Liberal leader. The Socialist leadership position was taken by Maya Taanverie.

The Socialists received 20 seats, a decrease of 6 seats, while the Liberals received 25 seats, an increase of 5 seats. The Nationalists received 2 seats, an increase of 1. While the Greens, the Conservatives and Alliance all received 1 seat. The Liberals had no majority but could win assembly votes with the tie-break clause, and could also rely on Nationalist or Conservative support. Em Leks Paar became the first Liberal mayor.
