Ginsukyo (Ginsukyan: ginsukiyo),[a] officially the Ginsukyan Union (Ginsukyan: ginsukiyo tihatu),[b] is a country located in West Alaxia. It is bordered by Fazarian Ginsukyo and the Gateway Sea to the west, Sinkayya and Atlantia to the north, the Fazarian state of Tuzal to the south, and Jimarian Ginsukyo to the east. Nyolenri is the capital and largest city; other major cities are Ogodoshima, Nyokeni, Narono, Yohizen, and Ninamitame.

Ginsukyo has been inhabited by humans since XXXXX BXY[c], later representing a distinct and indigenous Turiko culture. Later migrations by the Thasselene peoples from modern-day Atlantia influenced the Turiko significantly, introducing written language. These upheavals resulted in the creation of proper city-states by ~100 BXY, and ushered in a short but violent period in Ginsukyan history. A short moment of peace due to the First Council of Nyolenri was broken by Eientei which moved to quickly unify the city-states, establishing the Gurinary of Turiko in 82 XY. After more conquests by the Gurinary, the Second Council of Nyolenri was convened, in which the Amperite of Ginsukyo was founded. It was also around this time that a rivalry was brewing between Ginsukyans and Thraxians.

Ginsukyo saw rapid territorial expansion and switched between multiple systems of government. From a Restoration of the Gurin to being partitioned and forming the First Republic, later overthrown by political radicals that established the Second Republic. The second republic would last until 1654 XY, when Ginsukyo was invaded and then partitioned into three states; Eientei, Myokeni, and Belita. The three states remained close to each other as Thrax attempted to take the Ginsukyan region multiple times, with Eientei and Myokeni even reuniting in 1896, and Belita remaining a close ally even as it refused to reunify.

After 300 years of rule by foreign powers, Ginsukyo declared Independence in 2448, first as a Dominion of the Fazarian Monarchy, then as a Republic in 2454. Shortly following this, a period of economic growth began, resulting in the increased prominence of Ginsukyo in the world stage. War began against Fazar in 2521, ultimately resulting in a defeat which split the country, with the only government set up so far being the Union government, which styles itself as the successor to the Technocratic Republic of Ginsukyo.

Under the Union government, Ginsukyo has maintained a unitary presidential republic with a bicameral legislature, the National Assembly. Ginsukyo is a developing country and a middle power, once again experiencing rapid economic growth. A global leader in the automotive, electronics and shipbuilding industries, the country has made important contributions to science and technology. The Armed Forces of the Union is the successor to the Armed Forces of Ginsukyo, and while small, it is considered highly trained.

Ginsukyo was considered a cultural power, mostly for the prominence of its animation, comics and video game industries.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

The word "Ginsukyo" is an endonym from the Ginsukyan language, and was adopted in the 1st century. Before the term originated, most Ginsukyans used the term Turiko to refer to themselves. The first attestation of the word is in a verse from a Sona Tokā holy book, the Legend of Olar Kalarlar (P44-45):

The book was written as part of the Commands from the Lords, and was written by members of the First Council of Nyolenri in 57 XY, who viewed the establishment of a "Land of Ginsu" as the realization of a Promised Land and a goal that all Turiko people must aspire towards. It is in this context therefore that resulted in the establishment of Ginsukyo taking the form of yet another religious council, the Second Council of Nyolenri.

Prehistory (before 1000 BXY)[edit | edit source]

Not much is known about the land and the people that made up modern-day Ginsukyo before the Thasselene Migration which started 3,500 years ago, and most references to this period by later accounts are considered to be mythical, especially by historians from outside the country.

It is generally accepted that the date where Ginsukyan prehistory ends is the start of the Migration, and there is considered to be much more archaeological and especially written evidence and recorded history after the start of the Migration.

Thasselene period (1000 – 100 BXY)[edit | edit source]

- Description of Ancient Turiko society, with power centered around a Li

- Details of the Migration

- Opposing theories on the Migration; some believe that the Kalako invaded the Turiko people and were engaged in violent conflict, others believe that the Kalako Migration was much more peaceful

First Gurinary (XY 82 – 128)[edit | edit source]

- The transformation and consolidation of the First Gurin, as the three Li transform into two, and the Li become more political rather than familial.

- Development of steel

- Nyolenri and Eientei start developing further, construction results in the rapid rise of both cities

- The Shihunri, a political schism inside the Kanso Li, resulting in the creation of the Shimipaku Li
