This is the history of Kusfeld.

Pre-history[edit | edit source]

Establishment of the Kusfeldic Kingdom[edit | edit source]

By the 1500s, Kusfeld had established these borders (image A). The lands were consolidated by several nobles who had ownership over lands. These dukes were as such:

The Eight Dukes
Lothar Egeron, the Duke of Styce
Ala Arwin, the Duke of Hweins
Gortë, the Duke of Demos
Ise Brand, the Duke of Eglieur
Emmerič Helias, the Duke of Staqueluv
Wigbert Ludwig, the Duke of the Nayanas
Alé Née, the Duke of Karnes

The eight largest dukedoms in the area wanted security and guarantees with each other to protect themselves from rival groups such as the Tycelians in the south. Alongside much smaller and influenced states and estates, the eight kingdoms (image B) form the Kusfeldic Kingdom in 1503. At first, many dukes did not want a king to be higher on the hierarchy than themselves, and many of the smaller dukes resisted against making the largest duchy simultaneous with the kingdom to prevent a total takeover. They all held a conference later that year, and decided to split the power by giving the title of King of Kusfeld to the duke with the least amount of land, which would be the Duke of Hweins, currently Ala Arwin. Therefore, there was a coronation the following year with the understanding that the King would not be the supreme ruler of the land, and Ala Arwin, the Duke of Hweins, was declared King Arwin I.

The Age of Conquest[edit | edit source]

King Arwin I would die in 1510, and would be replaced by his son as both monarch and duke, as King Friedger I, who was 27 years old at the time. He would remain relatively laid back and would not try to consolidate power. Friedger had two children already, born in 1508 and 1509, two girls, Ala-Meer, and Arwinné. Friedger had a long reign and would die aged 65 in 1548. Ala-Meer had died previously after a failed birth in 1532, and so the crown went to Queen Arwinné I. She had 4 children: Meera in 1534, Arwin in 1537, Friedger in 1540, and Ala in 1542. Arwinné would reign until 1559 when she died aged 40 of hygienic diseases. The eldest daughter, Meera, would become Queen Meera I in 1559, aged 25. Her brother, the Prince Arwin, would help her reign tremendously.

In 1562, the eight high dukes would meet and decide to unilaterally expand the borders of Kusfeld out of threat of invasion from the Tycelians and the Venekites to the east. Prince Arwin was particularly interested in expanding borders and would take over command of the forces. Between 1563 and 1564, Arwin commanded 35,000 troops to attack the Venekites and conquer several lands to the east (image C). Around eighty percent of the newly acquired lands were annexed directly into lands owned by the crown or nobles loyal to the Hweins estate and family. The remaining lands were either seized, or forced to pledge allegiance. Meera I, and Arwin, had great success in expanding the power of Hweins, and he also spent time charming fellow dukes, especially the Duke of Demos who promised to give his lands to the Hweins estate following his death.

Lubin, the Duke of Demos, died in 1566, and as promised, his lands were acquired by Hweins. In 1567, the Vaaren War took place seeing the conquest of modern-day Dievaar, and other north-eastern lands, alongside the rest of modern-day Karnaya. Again, the Duchy of Hweins took large shares of these newly acquired lands. In 1569, the Kusfeldic government began an initiative to expand the control of the government to barbarian areas to the east such as in Wraggsal. In 1575, Kusfelds moved into eastern areas of the Enabit peninsula. By 1575, they controlled the lands in image F. The Queen would use a lot of ransacked gold to pay for the updating of national infrastructure, especially in her home duchy of Hweins, which would begin the growth of Hweins as a larger city and centre of trade, and the seat of government. After a famine in northwest Demos, the Queen setup new granaries. Religious conversion would take place in new areas too. By 1584, a consistent road system across the kingdom's many duchies would be built for easy travel of the seven dukes.

In 1587, Meera ordered Arwin to prepare for an invasion to the west and to the north out of fear of barbarian invasion. Arwin I would invade with 20,000 troops through Demos expanding to the Gulf of Daema in the 1588 Daema War. A smaller general known as Hagen-Wedekind would invade the remainder of Enabit, and was rewarded with large shares of the land there. In 1589, Meera I financed the colonisation of Langtverweglun (image I) in the northwest, creating the colony of New Hweins. A party of 250 men landed there on a merchant ship with a sizeable force left to scout the island and set up a small port area. Most of the ships return to bring new food. By 1593, the island has two small ports and an established route of trade, and the construction of island farms, and a population of 224. In 1596, Meera I would die of fever aged 62. Having become queen so young, Meera did not have any surviving children before age 25, and did not attempt to procreate often afterwards. With a lack of heirs, the throne went to her famous brother Arwin who became King Arwin II, aged 59. Arwin II did not waste any time expanding the Kusfeldic state and began the Sigs and Turns War in 1597, conquering the two states and incorporating them into the country. Instead of splitting the land into smaller states or incorporating it into the Duchy of Hweins, he would establish a new Duchy of Sigsturn in 1599 led by his sister Ala, aged 57.

Across the early 1600s, Arwin II in his older age would appoint his ally the Marquess of Vorbewald, Frederick Vopps, to run some domestic policies in the Duchy of Hweins, while the king could focus on management of the kingdom as a whole. During this period, many of the subservient dukes in the country, such as the Duke of Styce and the Duke of Staqueluv, were getting concerned that the Duchy of Hweins was consolidating its supreme power, and not giving enough concessions to the smaller dukes. However, seeing Arwin's strength in military campaigns, nobody wanted to attempt a revolt. Frederick Vopps would begin the construction and development of the western lands such as Avdelsen, including new ports for fishing and trade.

Arwin II would invest in better army training in 1600, preparing for a new campaign to take place in the new century. He would also fund the expansion of the navy to help the colonial ventures. In 1601, the Grand Campaign would begin to conquer lands east of Sigsturn. 25,000 troops were raised for the campaign alongside training, although Arwin II is quite old at the beginning of the campaign and would therefore take more of a backseat in conquests.

By 1603, the war had completed and the army suffered few casualties, but more than all other conflicts prior. The King would put extra effort in integrating these far away lands and connecting infrastructure. A minor revolt would take place in Sigsturn in August 1603, but would be put down by the Duchess of Sigsturn Ala's eldest son, aged 30, named Ingmar. All of the new lands would be incorporated into the Duchy of Hweins or loyal estates, further angering other Dukes.

Arwin II would return from the campaign with a terrible fever and would die in early 1604, aged 67. Despite his short reign of 8 years, due to his conquests as the Prince of Hweins, he was one of the most important kings of Kusfeldic history. Arwin II had no children as well, and so the throne would pass to his younger brother Friedger - who had died in 1600. Therefore the throne passed to his eldest surviving son Emmerič who was born in 1562, and was thus 42 years old.

Emmerič continued to let his uncle friend the Marquess of Vorbewald control some domestic policy, but ultimately wrangled back power as he wanted to focus less on aggressive expansion than his predecessor. Emmerič had four children in his youth: Inge in 1583, Arwinné in 1585, Arwin in 1587, and Gerwig in 1589. Arwinné in particular would spend a lot of time opening and working on wine vineyards, beginning an expansive wine and alcoholic industry in the Nayanas. Princess Inge in particular went to the newly opened University of Hweins and would become engrossed in knowledge, when she aged 18 travelled to Lucero, Fazar, in 1601, to study. When she returned in 1606, she was now heir to the throne but would fund the creation of libraries and new universities across Kusfeld. She was particularly interested in literature as well as the arts. Prince Arwin was very interested in sports too.

Emmerič would help sponsor the construction of figures of the hvalleism religion alongside folk and national heroes as he converted the natives to the state religion. National historical records were also compiled and kept in the Library of Kilné in Styce.

Throughout 1604 to 1611, and even before 1604, states outside of the Kusfeldic kingdom had began to be heavily influenced by the economy. In 1606, Emmerič recognised these smaller foreign states as 'protectorates' and vowed to protect them. Protectorates grow in numbers throughout the decade. In some states, royal marriages took place such as the marriage between Prince Arwin and Eles of Gycerée, and gifts to other states. In 1610, the horse was made an official national symbol and placed on a coat of arms for the Duchy of Hweins. Horses were very popular and many are taught to ride them as children. Cavalry units are numerous in the army.

The Age of Consolidation[edit | edit source]

Map of the First Kusfeldic Civil War timeline

In 1612, now that Arwin II had been dead for a long time, the Duke of Staqueluv and the Duke of Styce decided now would be a good time to curb the power of Hweins. The two dukes met Emmerič and ordered the hand over of loyal Hweins dukedoms, and when Emmerič refused, they decided to combine their two dukedoms to combine their power. Wigmar, the Duke of Staqueluv–Styce, would raise an army of 10,000 troops and would occupy a large duchy loyal to Hweins (one on the image) that was completely encompassed by them. With no resistance, they absorbed the lands and then moved to successfully occupy ten more duchies in the east (two and three on the image) in 1613.

First Kusfeldic Civil War in 1614. The government of Kusfeld, the Duchy of Hweins and loyal estates, are marked in blue. The Duchy of Staqueluv–Styce is marked in red. Neutral duchies are marked in grey.

In 1613, Emmerič heard of Ellya's attempt to expand their own influences in surrounding nations, even to Kusfeldic protectorates. This caused a diplomatic crisis and saw Emmerič travel to some bordering states to sure up support against Ellya. He would return in 1613 and would have to face up to the rising threat of Wigmar. In October 1613, Wigmar would conquer more duchies (5 on the map) and would connect all of their holdings by land. Emmerič did not want to violently end this, and so went to Wigmar and offered a diplomatic end to the conflict, but would see Styce and Staqueluv split up once again, and duchies given independence - to which Wigmar could not agree. However, Emmerič did use the expansion of Staqueluv–Styce to scare other duchies into supporting the Duchy of Hweins. The Duchy of Nayanas and the Duchy of Karnes would combine in January 1614 following a personal union into the Duchy of Karnaya.

In the First Kusfeldic Civil War, the Wigmites led by Wigmar of Staqueluv–Styce waged war against the Duchy of Hweins specifically, and not the Kusfeldic state. Therefore, some duchies such as Eglieur and Thresely, remained neutral. While the newly formed Duchy of Karnaya sided with the government of Kusfeld hoping for concessions from the King once the rebels were put down, feeling that Staqueluv–Styce would be put down quickly. Hartwin of Karnaya was quite worried though with his choice of ally after the Kusfeldic government suffered its earlier defeats in 1612 and 1613, but also hoped that if Karnaya could display a lot strength, they could demand more concessions after the war. After Duke Wigmar invaded and occupied a part of Hweins-proper in November 1614, Emmerič knew he had to intervene and so raised an army of 10,000 troops, alongside Hartwin, Duke of Karnaya, raising 6,000 troops. Meanwhile, Wigmar had increased his army to 9,000 troops.

Wigmar would move his forces to conquer Karnaya territory in the south, which he did quickly, and then moved towards the west by January 1615. Wigmar then engaged Hartwin with 9,000 troops to 6,000 troops in February at the Battle of the Nayanas, which saw Hartwin defeated with over 1,000 casualties. Hartwin retreated with his 5,000 troops to Hweins to meet up with Emmerič's forces in the capital. Wigmar would capture the Nayanas western flank by April, and would then move on the capital Hweins. By this time, Wigmar's army numbered over 12,000 troops. Emmerič was no fighter, and so hoped to engage Wigmar with the combined government forces of 15,000 troops and win on numerical advantage. Emmerič's youngest son Gerwig had recently graduated military school in Fazar and returned to Kusfeld in early 1615 and he took control of the Army in May.

Wigmar's 12,000 troops engaged Gerwig's 15,000 troops in June 1615, just before winter. Wigmar held a strategic advantage due to terrain and managed to murder the first round of Gerwig's attacks brutally, and thus Gerwig retreated. Wigmar couldn't advance though and so also moved to defensive positions to hold out through the winter mud. However, Gerwig did not stay in Hweins and wait for spring like Wigmar, instead opting to keep a defensive force of 3,000 at Hweins and move the remaining 12,000 troops to conquer the vital areas of Styce and Staqueluv by September, the main area of Wigmar's support. The Battle of Styce between under 1,000 men remaining in Styce ended quickly in a decisive Gerwig victory in late August.

Wigmar would begin his assault on Hweins in late September 1615. He would engage the 3,000 defending troops on 3 October 1615 in the Battle of Wigmar. Gerwig meanwhile moved his 12,000 troops to flank Wigmar from behind. While Wigmar faced the defensive force believing it was a large area, they left their behind and supply exposed leading to a siege by Gerwig's forces from behind. While the 3,000 troops suffered heavily casualties of over a thousand, Gerwig's counter flank and raiding of the camp saw Wigmar defeated and captured by Gerwig's forces. Due to a flashfire, over 4,000 troops of Wigmar's army died. With Wigmar in captivity, Emmerič ordered the end of the war by November.

Post-war recovery[edit | edit source]

Kusfeld's new colonies in 1622.

Following the end of the war, Wigmar was executed in December 1615 for treason, alongside the former Duke of Staqueluv. Emmerič and Gerwig both wanted a consolidation of lands owned by the government, and the powers of the government. King Emmerič would give up as the Duke of Hweins officially on January 1616, giving the position to his youngest son Gerwig. He aimed to permanently separate the title of Duke of Hweins from the Kusfeldic monarchy, although the heir to the throne Inge would still be the Princess of Hweins - a ceremonial position. After this though, the idea that the several dukes within Kusfeld were equal to the king, was no longer the case. The Duke of Karnaya swore loyalty to the King of Kusfeld and the Kusfeldic state, while the remaining neutral duchies of Sigsturn, Thresely, and Eglieur all swore loyalty to the King to be subservient. The lands of Staqueluv and Styce would be completely given to the government. Almost all of the Duchy of Hweins would also be ceded to the government, with some concessions.

Kusfeldic colonies in modern-day Baznia in 1622, of Baznia and Grošneov.

Emmerič would die in 1617 of a stress-related illness and would be succeeded by Queen Inge I. Inge had seven surviving children, almost all of which are to marry or having married heads of states of other kingdoms. These were Amaalé in 1611, Gala in 1612, Arwinné in 1613, Elesa in 1614, Friedger in 1616, Haartswigne in 1617, and Arwin–Gerwig in 1618, all born after Inge's return to Kusfeld. Her final child, Arwin–Gerwig, was birthed while Inge herself was 35 years old, which gave her some injuries. Inge attempted to have an eighth child in 1620, but would die from complications alongside her premature baby aged 37. The heir to the throne, Amaalé, was just 9 years old and could not inherit lands. The next eldest person in the line of succession was Inge's sister Arwinné, but she did not want to take the throne. Instead, her eldest brother Arwin was crowned Arwin III. Although, Arwin III made assurances that Inge's children would inherit the throne afterwards, but not specifically when.

Colonisation attempts[edit | edit source]

In 1618, Inge I would order the colonisation of areas on the eastern coast of Vaiya south of the Nacrilians. They would create two colonies in modern-day Baznia between 1618 and 1622. The name of the north-most colony was named Baznia, derived from the native word for the region 'Beozñaqua', and the southern-most colony was named Grošneov, derived from the native word for the nearby river 'Greshenevya'. Large ports were built by the late 1620s, but were operational in 1622. Arwin III would wage a war against natives uprising in 1623 and 1625 in Grošneov entrusting General Wendelin Landolf to put them down. It is believed that during an uprising in 1627, Landolf put down the natives without losing a single man. Arwin III would make Landolf the first Governor of Baznia in 1626.

Arwin III would set aside large sums of wealth for the colonisation effort, and would put effort in translating with isolated tribes and countries in the area to create treaties with locals. The religious customs would spread quickly, while the Kusfeldic language took longer to be embraced except by colonial settlers. Arwin III would also focus on the military, with several forts being constructed at strategic points, particularly near Nacrilia and Ellya.

In 1631, Amaalé turned 20 years old and was old enough to rule in her own right. Arwin III would abdicate in favour of his niece, accepting the title of Lord Protector of Kusfeld, the second in command. Queen Amaalé I was coronated later that year. Amaalé, fearing a similar fate to her mother, did not have any of her own children, hoping that her several siblings would create heirs instead.

Ellyan Civil War[edit | edit source]

1646

After the Ellyan Civil War, Kusfeld offers support for a side in return for vassalisation, who accept, and win.

The king is very well protected. The palace is heavily fortified, and the capital walls are heavily fortified. Poisonings are almost impossible due to pre-testing, and he has guards around him at all times.

At some point on 17 August: We send more expeditions south in hopes of spreading Kusfeldic culture even more along the east coast.

The spread of Kusfeldic Culture.

Kusfeld has held large swathes of territory on the eastern coast of the continent, known in Kusfeld as 'Vaiya', for many years now. As a result, the native populations have learned and adopted many parts of Kusfeldic culture, such as the religion, language, and many of our cultural practices. Obviously, they won't fully adopt our culture, but they have adopted many parts of our culture, making it an Istvai (East Vaiyan) - Kusfeldic blend. The king, nobility, and merchants are very happy with this, as we have spread our ideas and practices far beyond our borders. In turn, our colonies have also started to adopt some small parts of the Istvai culture, such as various festivals and small bits of the language. This has come to be known as the Istfeld (Eastern (Kus)feld) dialect.

Over time, many of our vassal states have been integrated into our country, and many of our tributaries have slowly evolved into vassal states.

Late 1600s[edit | edit source]

We won a landslide victory. We work on integrating it by connecting infrastructure, enforcing laws, converting culture and religion, etc. (against smaller states in

The king desires to better improve his ability to run the empire. He orders the construction of a lot more roads around the nation, and the construction of various small canals.

GUNPOWDER?[edit | edit source]

Traders from the west have brought us a strange substance, 'gunpowder'. It is a smelly, grey powder that makes a large explosion when touched by fire. We have been told how to make this powder, and many of the uses for it. One engineer has thought of a wonderful concoction. Many powders burn different colors, so we decide to mix these powders in with gunpowder and launch it toward the night sky. They make beautiful, colorful shapes in the sky (fireworks) that we call 'Fire Flowers'. We have discovered this can be a little bit of a fire hazard, and is quite expensive, so we often launch them in low risk areas and only use them on very special occasions. The firefighters are usually on standby and increased in number when they are used.

@Kingdom of A.B (Aljadar I) this works for ya?

We have begun researching other various ways we can use gunpowder.

im gonna do one more then we good

LONGSHIPS?[edit | edit source]

Longships have become the favorable ship for the navy. They are long, swift, durable, and easy to navigate both our rivers and the open waters with. They are also quite light, allowing us to easily transfer them over land. We try our hardest to keep the methods for crafting these ships secret. They also become synonymous with our identity to foreign, far away nations. When you see a longship, you see Kusfeldic peoples approaching. They are extremely similar to the real life viking longships in function, and are usually highly decorated with engravings and paintings.

We attempt to improve and increase trade with the western nation, bringing in new technologies, tales, and riches.

Our expeditions to the southeast have provided fruitful, and these new lands seem to be less populated, and more... barbaric. We have set a colony up where three rivers "meet" at the coast.

Longships and trade

With longships, we are able to extend our reach in trade just about anywhere (vikings would literally sail from norway to constantinople and back for trading so shut the fuck up). Our ships can reach the shores of Fazar, and the heartlands of Valar. Some even decide to be brave, and search for riches in the far northern island.

Ambulance

We need a way to get the sick and injured to hospitals, fast. Whether it be the battlefield, the countryside, or the cities, we need to get people to the hospitals ASAP. We set up an “ambulance system”. It consists of a team of doctors with a cart, a ‘stretcher’ and some guards. They get people to hospitals asap.

^usually used on the battlefield but also used in larger cities and some small towns

We prep 60k (like 1% of my pop or something) to invade Ellya. They’ve kinda sucked dick these past few decades and we wanna restore them to glory.... as a Kusfeldic Province.

Early 1700s[edit | edit source]

Invasion of Ellya

War lasts 1 year

We make West Ellya into a Kusfeldic Vassal, and do the shit we normally do with integration. Make roads, slowly change culture & religion, etc. Honestly, I don't know all the details I'd need for full integration, but let's assume I do them anyways.

The Kusfeldic Cavalry.

Due to our biome and geography, most people are very good at horse riding, and horses are a vital part of our country.

The army has a large Heavy Cavalry unit, which is used as a main fighting force. The men are typically heavily armed and extremely effective in straight up battles. We have an advantage in our terrain, as there are many wide, open, tall grass praries in our country.

Light Cavalry is also common, and mostly used in skirmishes and such. They didn’t have the destructive power of the Heavy Cavalry, but they were far more versatile in battle.

Horse Archers were also a valuable part of the army, and were effective on both horseback and on foot. They would carry a composite bow (for use on horseback), and a longbow (for use on foot). They were one of the most versatile members of the army, but were often highly trained and valuable, and were used en masse in only the most dire conflicts.

We invent the Button, a dope ass little thing that can close things, such as clothes.

Oh also, a glassblower noticed that when glass is bent a certain way, you can see really well/clearly through em. All you gotta do is make two small, little bent ‘lenses’ and connect them with little metal wires. Those with blurry, poor vision, will have their sight turned to normal.

1847[edit | edit source]

We begin building a massive arena in Hweins. The largest in the entire eastern part of the region, AT MINIMUM.

Our empire is pretty gosh darn  l o n g  and thats been a little bit of an issue. We decide to build more of, and upgrade the shit out of, our roads. The easily navigable rivers are still very important however, and we start building some small canals around the country.

Mining n shit is super EPIC in the country. We have a shit ton of resources and that shit gettin mined faster than

Front of the Dazulian Conquest 1907

While the war is goin, we integrating our newly annexed lands into the country. We convert lands. Converted to religion and culture.

The deserts of Delt are divided into 4 vassals, mostly following historical borders of previous nations, except with a lil bit of Kusfeldic Flavor to it.

The Middle and Upper class of our conquered regions tend to be fluent in Kusfeldic for the sake of business and diplomacy. Similar to how french changed anglo-saxon, Kusfeldic will soon change the common language of the conquered lands.

Kusfeldic merchants flood into the central sea through our territories there, greatly improving our trade relations with western nations, and improving the economy. Roads and canals are built and connected to current infrastructure.

1969[edit | edit source]

The Kusfeldic Church has made efforts throughout the decades to slowly convert the heathen areas of our empire. Whether through public acts, preaching on the streets, or... other methods.... we are slowly unifying our country religiously! Our holy texts are also in Kusfeldic so haha learn the language fools.

So since the plague of death and dead basically fucked up the region’s labor, a lot of the serfs be leavin to find new jobs and professions in da wide world. Many become craftsmen or soldiers. Others look to explore the far seas, or earn their fortunes at home as merchants. Some turn to religion, others turn to reason. More roads and canals are constructed around the nation for yes. We build many roads. Canals too are built.

2082[edit | edit source]

We continue improving the development of the nation. Roads, canals, new buildings, ports, etc. We hope this can improve the economy and technological progress of our nation.

Still spreadin ye olde religion and culture to all corners of the empire.

We start using newer weapons and more modern formations for the military. We begin expanding the navy (will specify # later), and we start lookin to explore moar. We sendin ships to the north (closer to the UR) in hopes of TRADE ROUTE.

Merchants have brought the ‘Our-kwee-buss’ or something from Valar to our fine nation. The crown purchases these from the merchants (for an inflated price) and starts working on makin em the standard across the empire. We call em the Lundenserr because that other name sounds gay. will go into effect after I negotiate with valar apparently

2088[edit | edit source]

We begin to send missionaries to the east and south (our direct east and south, not super far or anything) to convert the neighboring nations to the glorious religion. We also only do business with the east using Kusfeldic, so we start to kinda impact the language over there. At least with the upper and upper-middle classes.

We start heavily influencing these nations politically (and doin some goofy economic shit threats in hopes of making some or all of these bois my tributaries and/or vassals.

Conquests in more southern areas took place across the 2070s-2080s.

Map of Kusfeld in 2088 XY. Southern areas are de-facto independent, but are recognised as provinces of Kusfeld, and are heavily influenced by central government.

In the meantime, we start buildin a canal here. As long as that lake (which i think is freshwater?) doesn't contaminated, as i'm pretty sure the water would run into the sea but idk, Known as the Hveden Canal.

2095[edit | edit source]

We also begin the construction of this huge motherfucker at this red dot because prestige and lighthouse. It doubles as a massive library to house sacred  t e x t s. It is a massive 420 feet tall. It is resistant to fires and enemy cannon fire, and it is defended by a very nearby fort.

We’ve still been doing this, though on a slightly less extreme scale, for quite a long time now. The two on the right are vassal states (i’ll map em later), but now I’m wondering what the results are with the other 4. I need answers!

The capital city of Kusfeld is quite a spectacular sight to behold. A center of knowledge, religion, economy, and politics, it is the heart of the Kusfeldic Empire and is truly the crown jewel of Eastern Alaxia. Filled with bustling markets, theaters, arenas, libraries, cathedrals, and more. Large, ancient walls remain in the inner city, and the palace sits atop a hill in the center of the city overlooking the large river that flows through the heart of the country out to the sea. The home to the Kusfeldic monarchy for over 500 years, the history and importance of this city are unrivaled in all of the East. The center of a massive, wealthy nation, and the home to perhaps one of the longest reigning (and powerful) dynasties in the known world, Hweins is truly a marvelous city.

We be developin the country by addin roads n canals, building stuff like libraries n hospitals, and more. We hope that this can help the people of our nation further prosper, and advance Kusfeld in the ways of science and influence.

Kusfeld begins looking to the north for trading partners. These foreigners have advanced technology, and riches that we are not used to. We may have had minor trading routes set up there, but we wanna increase our involvement there. We also look for trade routes further to the east and south because  e x p l o r e .

2172[edit | edit source]

Kusfeld starts heavily influencin dis boi. They have wealthy lands and are a strategic point on tha lake. We also want to consolidate power around where Suton is because fuck colonizers. We start doin lil gifts here and there. Favors there and here. Maybe a marriage or two. Good times are had by all.

Map of Velilen being influenced in 2172

Due to the new Suton presence in the North Sea, we gotta stand our ground. We start greatly expanding the navy and building naval academies around the country. Our merchant fleet is expanded, and we lookin all good. Outfitted with rows of cannons, these ships can hold their own against pirates, and if need be, a foreign fleet. Hail Kusfeld, fuck overdetailed rp >:D

Kusfeld has an academic history, with many ancient grand libraries and universities spread around the nation. Wanting to remain on the forefront of knowledge and technological innovation, the King has decreed the construction of many more across the country, as well as a larger portion of the national budget going into higher learning. Many upgrades to university campuses are made, which attracts many prominent foreign intellects to our borders. We also use our trade route connection with Qatesh to our advantage, 'borrowing' various inventions made there, and introducing them to the Kusfeldic world. Hail Kusfeld! in case you guys didnt know, this means i'm adopting various advanced technologies im getting from other nations as well as making libraries and educational goodies

STRANGE IDEAS

You have gained a sum total of THREE super strange ideas from the Qateshians.

1- The "Father".  He is said to have been the making of god on earth; he attempted to bring peace and balance to all of Qatesh.  In order to do that, he raised an army of 100,000 men, with which he began a reign of terror accross the land.  However, he was defeated by the Tenno of Suton- another god, who fought him personally on horse, and stabbed him with a sword.  Anyway; your people are now in possession of his holy book, "The Chronicles of Father", which includes a footnote by a Suton historian explaining all of this.

2- "Fried Chicken".  Apparently, someone was cooking chicken in the oven, when they lazily put it in a pot that had already in it oil and breading.  Guess what happened.

3- "Mechanical Clocks", which were supposedly invented in Western Qatesh.  In your stalls and streets, one merchant is known to specifically sell only these clocks, and he emphasizes that western qatesh may have invented the clock, but, eastern qatesh perfected it.    Because of his strange style of selling, these clocks have became well known.  He is the only person who sells them in your country, and you don't know what country he's even from.

The religion of 'The Father' gains a small following in the west of the Kusfeldic empire, but never gains much of a large backing. The believers of this foreign religion tend to be a thorn in the side of some of the western governors.

Fried chicken is pretty freakin popular, and we begin seeing what else we can fry. Fish? Beef? Pork? Oreos?

Mechanical Clocks are an instant hit in Kusfeld, and soon some local merchants begin trying to find out how to build them. Various designs come out with a Kusfeldic 'twist', though they are not yet quite as good, or valuable, as the original.

Due to new information, we hear that the religion of the Father is fucking cursed devil shit and we launch a huge conversion effort in the west. Multiple searches and seizures occur. Our goal is to find their holy book, bring it back to the palace, and hide it lock and key in the deepest, darkest dungeon.

Since we have a decent amount of natural gold and silver reserves, we make our OWN banks and start tryna get into that whole business.

2182[edit | edit source]

Since tae is being a cuck, the army has like the latest technology when it comes to weaponry and shit. I'm not aware ooc what the best tech is, but we sure as hell have it. Sorry for not really wanting to spend 3 hours of me life looking up exactly what the best gun types are in this era and the exact timelines of them, as well as not knowing who has what tech, and for not wanting to manually upgrade my gun tech every 3 seconds because automatic progression doesnt exist. Fuck me.

Mnirkator Maps

Renowned explorer and cartographer Rölf Mnirkator has released a new map that will revolutionize exploration and travel as we know it! The Mnirkator Projection accurately shows sailing and roads as straight lines, allowing us to more efficiently and accurately navigate and plot courses. My description is kinda scuffed but yeah Mercator Projection Kusfeld Edition.

His name is pronounced “Near-kah-tohr”

Not like we haven’t been doing this already, but what we do is go north to the advanced nations of Qatesh, buy epic advanced stuff, maybe coerce some artisans or craftsmen to come with us, bring that sweet, succulent, advanced technology back to Kusfeld, reverse engineer it, get some tips and tricks from the craftsmen and artisans if they come, and start mass producing it / adopting it in our nation.

Its not at like uber remarkable speeds but its quicker than qatesh can advance in tech, so we’re slowly closing the gap.

This happens with Civilian technology and Military technology. I don’t know what techs they have and I don’t, so I can’t really specify a whole lot. However, we bring civilian shit like the Telescope, Pendulum, Barometer, and Microscope over. As for military shit, idk what techs im missing, but we bring some of dat shit over too.

2203[edit | edit source]

That was a pretty bad loss to the coalition, we thonks that the military may need a revamp. We focus on improving troop discipline by picking the best of the best and instilling harsh training regiments. This results in a smaller, but more effective, fighting force. We adopt the Goose Step in order to keep our troops in line, making the battle more easily managed by our generals. This harsh training also instills a sense of brotherhood in the troops, increasing chemistry and morale in battle.

Meanwhile, we kinda chill on the whole rapid infrastructure advancement deal and kinda focus on recovering the economy because holyy shit that was rough.

We put in more effort into converting lands into our religion and culture across the nation. I've already said earlier the methods I use, so just scroll up a lil.

In competition with Suton, we start spreadin our banks out there too. We think that, due to our proximity, actually having gold and silver reserves, and due to the fact that we arent literally invading the continent, many Alaxians would favor us instead of Suton.

The government funds an effort to restore these farmlands, as well as a flood prevention effort. Flood barriers can be seen in high risk areas, and irrigation ditches are set up to make the flood flow away from farms.

We implore settlers to spread out to relatively untapped lands to make new farms in the frontier. We have a lot of open land for farming so ya yeet.

Kusfeld also brings over the knowledge of canning from Lothern, as our court has heard tales of a fantastic process that makes food impossible to spoil.

We bring it over usin epic trade routes.

Its reasonable shut up

2215[edit | edit source]

After decades of no colonization, we send some colonists and pioneers and expand our land on the eastern coast to this expanse. We're lookin for trade routes n stuff.

Map of Kusfeldic colonies in 2215

Using our incredible influence on the southern npcs and our recovered economy/treasury, we offer to purchase this pink land from the former player nation there. It's mostly desert and savannah, and the land is relatively depopulated. No major cities are lost, and the large funds received from this could help jumpstart the player nation into a process of modernization. As their people start to leave, Kusfeldic settlers move into the little decent land there. This helps us control the area better.

The move, criticized by many opponents of the King, is a controversial one at best.

We start connecting the newly acquired land with our current infrastructure.

We also start heavily projecting our influence on these poor, backwards, mountain nations. We will financially and politically support these nations in exchange for some power behind the scenes. Finally, we start preparing efforts to create / connect colonies here. We want more trade influence and land for our colonists. By making this land ours, ships from across the eastern sea will almost definitely have to dock at kusfeldic ports in order to enter alaxia.

2231[edit | edit source]

Finally (but for real this time), we start HEAVILY influencing this lil port microstate here. We wanna own as much of the coast as possible, and this lil guy is standing in our way.

Map of rebellion

2240[edit | edit source]

After years of preparation and small groups of settlers migrating here, these lands are now formally kusfeldic colonies.

Map of Kusfeldic colonies in 2240

These areas would've been under some Kusfeldic influence for some time.

Map of Interior Vaiyan states under Kusfeldic influence in 2240

2251[edit | edit source]

We start preparing the navy for some possible future exploration and colonization to the north. We believe that this could help us join Qateshi politics and improve our trade presence in the most wealthy area on the planet. This is NOT an invasion prep, just so ya’ll know We send ships to colonize these unsettled islands.

We further expand the canal in order to accommodate for growing ship sizes. We make it extra thicc so that we can have a lot of big boi ships and commercial come in at the same time. The canal also fertilizes the lands surrounding it, creating green, fertile farmland on both sides of the canal.

We send colonists to this here peninsula. It's relatively fertile, yet isolated The inland is decently mountainous/hilly, and there is a potential for a mining industry there.

Map of Ferten peninsula in 2251

2256[edit | edit source]

We start usin our influence to spread Kusfeldic culture and religion into the states we are... influencing. We wanna be the big boi of eastern r1. Heil kusfeld poger. Since we have power over their economies and some good buddies in the upper class, we start doing business with them in only Kusfeldic. This causes the upper class to learn Kusfeldic. We use our influence over... say... lawmakers... and make it so that business is done in Kusfeldic. This causes the middle and lower class to adapt, and over time, many will know the language. As for religion, we just be sending missionaries to the much poorer populations of NPCs around us, saying, 'yo, hey, you there! you know how kusfeld has like, money?! and you dont!? its because we've got a fucking dope god bro. if you convert, your fortunes may improve greatly!' being Kusfeldic religion makes our merchants and noblemen more willing to do business with NPCs, making these bruhs richer and the local population more willing to feed into kusfeldic culture bullshit.

Kusfeld starts the construction of two more 90 gun ships, two more 100 gun ships, and a GRAND 110 gun flagship. This ship will strike fear in the eyes of pirates and foreign faggots who want to fuck with us. Heil Kusfeld. Btw this expensive We outfit the 110 gun flagship with even more guns (now 130) by closing the spar deck between the quarterdeck and the forecastle.

2276[edit | edit source]

Freinz II crowned.

2278[edit | edit source]

Growing anti-Kusfeld sentiment grew across the late 2100s to 2200s with several major movements keeping the language and culture alive. Because of Kusfeldic decentralisation and feudalism, a lot of the Dazulian and Nacrilian land had not been oppressed harshly. Eventually, the government of Kusfeld became more nationalistic and wanted to spread Kusfeld ideas and support of the government across the government, especially after several rebellions in southern Kusfeld threatening the government. After the 2278 Hweins famine, the government ordered noble lords in Nacrilia and Dazulia to pay tax to the central government in a percentage of their grain supply, to which they did not oblige. King Freinz II, who had only been crowned in 2276, wanted a way to show his power. The 4th Duke of Orbogne and the 6th Duke of Greusorte were particularly upset with the Kusfeld government, being close to the border, and refused to give up anything as they had also been affected by the famine. The government of Kusfeld rallied several loyal dukes and ordered the invasion of disloyal dukes with the prize of their money being taken.

2279[edit | edit source]

This led to the Grain War lasting from 2279 to 2280, and saw over 10,000 deaths. In the aftermath of the war, Kusfeld strengthened it's power over the minorities within the nation by introducing several laws aimed at populating these areas with Kusfelds. This has resulted in several million Kusfeldic peoples living there in present day, with several majority Kusfeld cities in key areas.

2282-2288[edit | edit source]

King Freinz II died in 2282, and his brother Freinz III took over. Starting in 2283, Kusfeld began the process of Kusfeldification by purging important Dazulian nobles to assert dominance in the elite. At first, this was quietly seizing dukedoms if a duke had no true heir or had a conflict in inheritance. In others, dukes were framed as being disloyal and removed, and some just had their lands partitioned. In 2284, the Duke of Torrad and the Duke of Oselyia were targeted for their incredibly large chunks of land. They realised that the King was after their land and announced a secession and the proclamation of the Kingdom of Dazulia, with the Duke of Torrad being proclaimed King George I. This entity existed from 2284 until 2288, when it was invaded in the Torrad War. George I was deposed in early 2289, and his lands fully incorporated into Kusfeld, while the Duke of Oselyia was forced into exile in Matkalvina while his lands were partitioned and given to his eldest son, the Duke of East Oselyia.

2291[edit | edit source]

The incorporation of the intermediary lands between Kusfeld and the Lavafields took place during the 2280s and 2290s and were rife with political issues. In Ghosjia, the Kusfeldic government fought the Ghosjian War between 2287 and 2292 but succeeded eventually in conquering the lands who were previously very rebellious. In Enseid, the government fought just one battle, the Battle of Balegerung, against the Duke of Prinscount in 2290. The incorporation of Begselia, Sletteria, and Slicia, went relatively smooth and were all incorporated by 2293, but several revolts take place such as the 2296 Begselia revolt, and the 2297 Slicia revolt, when native populations were upset with Kusfeld migration.

The vast majority of citizens along the canal migrate migrate further east

By 2291, Nacrilia has been part of the Kusfeldic imperial holdings, altho autonomous. So setup their integration across 100s of years prior.

Map of Nacrilia in 2291

2292[edit | edit source]

im askin like all of the eastern one

lemme explain

i heavily influence all of the smol inland mountain bois so they'll likely join

and the north is the most heavily under threat

all of these green bois i have the big influence over

and the bois in the north are under epic threat from acorians and likely soon qateshis

so is yes

Map of Vaiyan Interior States in 2292

We let the king there marry our second daughter (we have 3 bois and 4 daughters)

We tell the mountain bois (who are heavily influenced by us) that if we fall, they will be next, so we need to be as strong as possible on the get-go.

we also subtly threaten that we will stop trading with them if they dont join

We greatly improve the national road system. New roads are easily paved and pre-existing canals are expanded. Newer, larger bridges are built along major points of traffic. This will greatly improve both internal army mobility and general travel times.

->They decide not to cast dies in your instable country.  They are not convinced that if a revolution happens you will not bring them down with yourself.

Plus, they don't need an alliance.  They think the mountains protects them.

2302[edit | edit source]

In 2302, Freinz III would die and be succeeded by his son Freinz IV. In 2305, Kusfeld signed the Vaiya Agreement, creating the Vaiyan Union. It would link all countries involved into a unified foreign policy and hierarchy, recognising Freinz IV as their true overlord, although with huge amounts of autonomy. Dazulia, Nacrilia, major portions of the lava corridor, all Eastern vaiyan colonies, and some other countries in the area would sign in 2305. By 2332, the majority of smaller independent states in the southwest, and southern areas, would sign.

2317[edit | edit source]

Kusfeld, seeing the rapid economic growth from other countries across the world from this ‘industrialization’, starts heavily investing in industrializing its territory. We have a bunch of natural resources (like coal), and a very large workforce on top of an already relatively large urban population. We hope that this industrialization thing can really push us over the edge and bring us true fortune!

kusfeld is specifically investing in the growth of textiles (since we have so much shep), steel production (since natural resources epic), and steam power (because choo choo hehehe). This doesnt mean we aren’t investing in other stuffs but these are the big 3.

2318[edit | edit source]

Trains

Using our new technology from Ionaea and combining it with natural Kusfeldic ingenuity, we have made an epic vehicle that has the potential to change transportation as we know it. Located on a set of tracks, it uses coal and a steam engine to propel itself at remarkable speeds. No need to rest the horses, and able to pull vast quantities of material, this could revolutionize the world! We call it... the train. We start HEAVILY investing in both the construction of railroad networks and the improvement of these trains.

Spinning Jenny

To get the record straight, we have a lot of epic sheepsies. These sheepsies are great producers of cloth/textiles. In order to increase the production of refined textiles, we start using the ‘spinning jenny’. A Qateshi innovation brought down to Kusfeld, this allows us to create refined textiles at a much quicker pace, raking us in both more money and making manufactured textiles more widespread amongst the people.

We offer these red highlighted bois assistance in industrialization, as well as general improvement of the economy and infrastructure, if they join the 'Vaiyan League'.

2324[edit | edit source]

At some point, Matkalvin and the southwest should fall to complete integration in the west, and vassalisation in the east. (i think war with Ahitereira; Justa mentions "got those puppets and land from ahit because i fucking dominated a battle last night under the watch of JCM and he said that they wanted peace

with equal mods i took out like 90k ahiterians while losing only 3k kusfeldic soldiers")

Map of Kusfeld and the Vaiyan League in 2324

The real finally (:poguuuu~1:), we start HEAVILY fortifying our western borders/lands. We try to cool down the bad blood between us and Ahit, and we start trying to create a 'last bastion of civil peoples' in the east of Alaxia. We mostly dont want to become bankrupt and fucked due to being connkwered.

We use our new railway networks and factories to mass produce military supplies quickly and ship em to the front lines fast. Mass production and Interchangeable parts are to be heavily utilized so as to keep repairs and building shit like guns easy and quick.

Due to internal pressure from both the common citizen and the wealthy elite, we shall adopt a constitution and create a parliament for our fine nation. The king still has power, but parliament is also a big boi and people have RIGHTS now and stuff. Constitutional monarchy is hella dope! We hope that this can also kinda make it so the revolutionaries that are in us arent as completely fucking livid but we can only hope. Heil Kusfeld?

2320s-2330s[edit | edit source]

Kusfeld keeps strictly training its troops and making sure that they’re in top shape. If one soldier gets out of line, their whole unit is punished as well. We spend even more moneh improving the western borders, and reach out to ahiteria to team up against Lothern (ahiteria needs to be conquered too). We also reach out to @Deleted User, since we believe that they could be next in the Lothern Republic’s conquest.

Steamboats

A technology brought to us from Ionaea, steamboats are remarkable little fruits of ingenuity. Used to travel up rivers or lakes, these boats are fantastic for ferrying people across rivers and delivering goods inland through rivers. Heil Kusfeld!

We create a shit ton of fortifications on the eastern part of the canal so as not to let the potential invaders pass across the canal and into our nation.

Cannons with exploding shells are set up all across the other side of it, just waiting for the blob of invaders to come.

Factories

Factories be hella profitable! Textile factories, steel mills, workshops with assembly lines, trains, steamboats, and more! Kusfeld is infatuated with industrialization, and utilizes its wealth of natural resources in its home territory to industrialize further! We shall catch up with Qatesh using the power of steel and steam!

2332[edit | edit source]

Kusfeld reaches out to Ahiteria and @Deleted User for a temporary coalition against the rising Lothern State.

We also ask for help from the npcs by us. - The 2nd Coalition forms

2332-2338[edit | edit source]

Judiciary System & Police

For years, Kusfeld has been enforcing a backwards way of justice. Noble biases have gotten in the way of fair sentencing, and thousands have been unjustly sent to the gallows. No longer will this be true! Kusfeld's parliament has established a 'modern' judiciary system. Judges are assigned to provinces and local administrative regions in order to preside over court hearings. They shall, free from bias, sentence criminals to various punishments. A man punched another man (who happened to be a noble's cousin) in the face? Normally, that man would be executed, but now that has changed! These judges, along with an unbiased jury of 12 people, shall be the prime enforcers of our law! Speaking of law enforcement, we have founded the constabulary/police force! Citizens who meet the qualifications can become part of the police force! Stationed in towns and cities across the country, these members of the community enforce the law on behalf of the crown! Brawl fight? No longer shall armed soldiers take them away, this role is replaced by armed policemen! Murderers, pick pockets, tax evaders, and con men, these guys will get to the bottom of it and bring them to justice!

Cotton

Due to the growing textiles industry, cotton starts becoming an important crop on plantations in Kusfeld. Wealthy landowners grow this crop en masse in our savannahs and eastern 'colony', bringing in lots of product for factories, resulting in a shit ton of textiles for the bois. Manufactured textiles are becoming a primary export for Kusfeld, bringing the nation in a fuck ton of money. Since slavery and serfdom are outlawed however, most landowners hire young men looking for some easy work and impoverished men who cannot find work. It aint much, but it's honest work. This also starts lowering unemployment rates in Kusfeld, as many men find work on the farms, and many women find work in the factories/mills.

Many kusfeldic entrepreneurs and businessmen go out out their way to bring various inventions home to Kusfeld. Inventions such as the Sutonese Camera, West Sutonese gas lights, and the Ionaean glass cylinder mold are actively sought after. Many of the rich tycoons of Kusfeld would not hesitate to lavishly purchase such inventions and bring them home, selling them off as their own. Capitalism works bois :ancap~1:

Kusfeld again lays claim to moar lands. This time its basically just icy coast and more relatively unpopulated inland mountains/volcanos. It's basically empty land.

Map of Vaiyan colonies in 2332-2338

Kusfeldic industrial exports such as textiles will make up for the money spent building the factories and industrial infrastructure.

2339[edit | edit source]
