The 2441 Empherias general election was held on 21 December 2441 to elect 600 members to the Empherias parliament. The opposition People's Socialist became the largest party where it won 267 seats, an increase of 23, but still short 34 of an overall majority. This was the second time in a row where an election produced a hung parliament. Both main parties increased their vote share: the PSP won 13.1 million voters up 3 percentage points, while the Liberals had 12.7 million up 1 percentage point. The governing Liberals gained 6 seats to 259 seats– 8 below the PSP. The Greens and the Nationalists both had more than a million votes but they decreased by 2 seats and 12 seats respectively– the Greens became the third largest party with 25 seats.

Expectations following the 2440 general election believed the next election would be held early potentially in 2443. The Liberals were supported by the Nationalists and Conservatives to reach enough for a majority (301) in a supply and confidence agreement. Despite concessions, the Nationalists were unhappy with the arrangements and wanted actual cabinet positions and began putting pressure on Skylar Lawrence in summer 2441. New polling from September 2441 saw the Liberals doing well, and Lawrence decided to call an early snap election on national day 21 December 2441 to resolve parliamentary deadlock.

Katelyn Roberts, leader of the PSP, announced on election day that she would enter into coalition with the Green party following negotiations pre-election day. With a supply and confidence agreement with the Centre party, they would reach 306 seats in a confidence vote. There was an expectation that the next general election would be earlier than the expected date of December 2446.
