Jimaria is a nation located in Western Alaxia. Despite its relative size, it is a notable nation on the world stage, being among the ten nations to possess nuclear weapons and a frequent member of the International Concord Security Committee. It is also a hub of film making within the world, starting in 2461 with Urok Ilray's An Old Friend.

History

Rule of Mazar (2410-2448)

Cerend Presidency (2445-2455)

In 2445, Ulmar Cerend, of the Federal Party, assumed the position of president, at the time a position below the King. The first three years of his rule were largely uneventful for Jimaria, until in 2448 Mazar, long time king and man often credited with the creation of modern Jimaria, died.

Following the death of Mazar, Cerend assumed full executive power, alongside then prime minister Nuray Tsarok (JUF). The pair embarked on a series of domestic and military reforms, culminating in September 2450 when parliament approved a measure to stop recognizing all titles of nobility in Jimaria.

Cerend's second term saw continued focus on domestic improvement. Negotiating financial aid from the High Kingdoms of Alaxia, which funded mining and infrastructure upgrades, including the construction of the first airports in Jimaria, and the start of the Jimarian nuclear program. He was also responsible for negotiating a free trade agreement with Tushinmero, which granted Jimaria access to Thorium deposits.

Prime Minister Tsarok, meanwhile, in August 2452 was able to get parliament to approve the start of the Jimarian Language Program, funding a commission of language professors from across the country to construct a single language for the nation.

Tsarok Presidency (2455-2475)

2455 Jimarian National Election

The 2455 Election saw a fierce presidential campaign between incumbent president Ulmar Cerend of the Federal Party, and incumbent Prime Minister Nuray Tsarok of the Jimarian United Front. The JUF was only able to gain a single seat in parliament, but the Federal Party lost five, leaving a JUF legislative majority without a coalition, and Tsarok was able to secure a national majority to win the presidency. The prime minister would be Arhok Ulgrim.

First Term (2455-2460)

Nuray Tsarok's first term was marked by a focus on military and foreign policy, though not exclusively. Three months into his term, in October 2455, the Tsarok Nuclear Power Plant opened, a Turaz-Varok Thorium Reactor. In January 2456, Tsarok approved Project THUAW, to create a nuclear weapon using the U-233 produced in the Thorium reactor. Through the rest of 2456, a number of infrastructure projects, including road improvements, further airports, and a second nuclear power plant would be completed. In December 2456, Tsarok would assist in the drafting of the International Concord Charter as apart of his duties as President, though it would take many months until August 2457 for the charter to be ratified and the IC formed.

The remainder of Tsarok's first term would see a number of international crises, in 2458 the West Alaxian portion of the DMSO would largely withdraw from the alliance, Jimaria along with them. Thrax, Ginsukyo, Atlantia, and Jimaria soon entering into a new reduced tariff agreement.

In 2459, Ceironia detonated the first Hydrogen Bomb, which started a period of high tensions as fears of global total nuclear annihilation grew, and bunkers were funded to begin construction. In September, the Third Cralasian Order of Northern Qatesh launched a small nuclear strike using Ceironian nuclear weapons; THUAW was given vastly increased funding.

In the leadup to the 2460 election, Tsarok, with the help of Ulgrim, was able to pass the 2460 Military Reform Act, modernizing the Jimarian Military with equipment such as body armor, and adopting the Jimarian Language for military use.

The JUF was able to secure an even larger parliamentary majority in 2460, and Tsarok was able to win the presidency by a larger majority than in 2455.

In September, two months after the election, Jimaria would negotiate with Fazar to re-enter the DMSO, and in December, Tsarok and Ulgrim are able to pass what Tsarok would later claim to be his most important accomplishment, the Jimarian Language Education Initiative, which would begin the use of the Jimarian language in schools.

In February, 2461, Project THUAW yields success, and in June Jimaria announces it is the fifth nation to possess an Atomic Bomb (actually being the 8th, due to a number of secret projects). Having developed a weapon, Jimaria quickly moves to join ongoing negotiations among the Security Committee to create a nuclear non proliferation treaty, pointing out a massive loophole in their current draft, and, via the Fazarian representative, presenting a new draft which would be adopted in September.

The remainder of Tsarok's second term is largely uneventful.

Continuing the trend from the previous re-election, Tsarok wins the presidency by an even larger margin and the JUF secures a slightly larger Parliamentary holding.

An economic crisis in 2466 involving oil prices results in renewed focus in Jimarian energy independence via nuclear power, and as such, three more nuclear reactors are constructed, two Thorium and one Uranium. Toward the end of the term, in 2469, Jimaria successfully develops a hydrogen bomb, and in 2470, Tsarok approves a measure to start ballistic missile and long-range bomber programs.

Tsarok's fourth and final term is largely uneventful until 2474. In July, detonations suspected to be from nuclear weapons are detected in Cralas, and Tsarok orders five Jimarian Army regiments to North Qatesh. By September, an additional 5 army regiments and a number of nuclear equipped long range bombers have been dispatched to Cralas, and when Cralas launches their nuclear arsenal at Suton, Jimarian forces are apart of the retaliation. Following the nuclear exchange, the area of Cralas where Jimarian forces were sent is reformed into the Cralasian Corporate Republic.

After the war, Jimaria sends aid to Suton, and the government begins investing in greenhouses to help negate the effects of the small nuclear winter triggered by the war.

Ulgrim Presidency (2475-2495)

2475 Jimarian National Election

Since Tsarok had served four terms, the maximum number allowed for a president under the Jimarian constitution, the 2475 saw a much more open field than the previous four elections. The major candidates emerged as the heads of their respective parties; Prime Minister Arhok Ulgrim, the dwarf who had served alongside Tsarok for the last twenty years ran under the Jimarian United Front; Kuli Nurtok, of the Federal Party, ran on a campaign bolstered by dissent from the Jimarian Language Project and Anti-War sentiment from Cralas; Lioth Sslath, a Nagani, ran for the Worker's Party on a left-wing platform, and ran a very successful media and advertising campaign, becoming very popular.

In the end, Sslath led his party to an amazing improvement, and they formed a coalition with the JUF, but unlike in previous coalitions, Sslath was chosen to receive almost all of the JUF and WP votes in order to become Prime Minister, while Ulgrim won the general election to become President.

First Term (2475-2480)

The start of Ulgrim's term saw continued foreign intervention, sending more forces to Cralas, participating in international condemnation and economic action against Ceironia for their part in causing the nuclear exchange. But in November 2476, Thrax, Ginsukyo, Atlantia, Karkuss, and Runcuk left the DMSO, and joined Ceironian (Now Horyuxian) lead GEDU. The Jimarian government, Ulgrim foremost among them, feared Thrax may try to use this opportunity to invade and attempt to annex 'East Thrax' the core Jimarian region home to the capital and such, and so moved to send ten army regiments to be stationed defensively near the border.

In December, 2476, Jimaria launches an artificial satellite into orbit to demonstrate the capabilities of newly developed long range missiles, in a bid to intimidate Thrax and deter future aggression. Early summer of 2477 saw the Ladros nuclear crisis, which was luckily resolved peacefully.

2477 would be a pivotal year for the Jimarian nation, as the Lothern Secessionist Movement, which had been dormant for decades, began to flare up again. Under the leadership of Aijor Halois, protests begin in the Lothern majority parts of the country. Ulgrim responds with a speech, calling for unity between all of Jimaria, and puts police on high alert.

In December, 2477, Ulgrim would order the almost 20,000 Jimarian military personnel in Cralas on high alert, as Corporate Republic forces had discovered older copies of religious texts which directly contradicted beliefs of the main sect in the region, which was expected to lead to violence. This prediction came true in June 2479, when large scale riots and terrorist attacks begin, nine Jimarian citizens are killed, causing anger back home, but a different conflict is brewing.

The Thraxian Conflict (2479-2481)

[For now Imma just copy paste the event in here]

September, 2479 - Horyuxia sends 100,000 soldiers to Thrax, Jimaria responds by mobilizing 140,000, to which Horyuxia raises another 100,000, and Jimaria moves to 200,000. Fazar sends an allied 200,000.

October, 2479 - At the very end of the month, Horyuxian forces in Thrax begin a coup against the Thraxian government.

November, 2479 - Fazarian forces begin an invasion of Thrax. About two weeks later, Jimarian forces move to secure a 60 kilometer “Border Zone” to prevent the war spilling into Jimarian land. Shortly later still, Horyuxia explains they needed to invade because Thrax was developing biochemical, and possibly nuclear, weapons of mass destruction.

December, 2479 - Thraxia’s Capital, New Dinsmark, Falls to Horyuxian forces.

January, 2480 - The Thraxian City of New Farbanti falls to Horyuxian forces, though at heavy losses. Horyuxia begins a harsh crackdown on anti-war media and protests.

February, 2480 - Tongburg, in the South of Thraxia, falls to Horyuxian Forces despite a victory for the Thraxian Airforce in the skies above. Halwerp, in south-central Thraxia, falls to Horyuxian Forces. Dübenbon, in north-central Thraxia, is taken in a crushing Horyuxian victory, cutting the North of Thrax off from the Southern Peninsula.

March, 2480 - Bischoftal, in Northern Thrax, is just barely held against Horyuxian forces. Wijnsingen, located near the Jimarian border, falls to Horyuxian-Jimarian Forces.

April, 2480 - Schaffsoix, in Northern Thrax, falls to Horyuxian Forces.

May, 2480 - 10,000 Lunidor soldiers arrive in Thrax to protect their and the International City’s investigation into the Horyuxian WMD claims. Fazar secures Air superiority and begins a large-scale bombing campaign against Thraxian industry and military targets.

{Between January and June, 2480, a number of smaller engagements between Horyuxian and Thraxian forces result generally in Horyuxian victory and occupation of large parts of the country}

June, 2480 - Paramilitary groups and the Thraxian Army begin an offensive, focusing on Horyuxian and Fazarian forces. An international coalition of investigators are sent to Thrax to determine the truth in accusations of WMDs

July, 2480 - Thraxian Forces attempt to liberate Halwerp, but are driven back by the Horyuxian occupation force.

August, 2480 - Thraxian Forces liberate the capital, New Dinsmark, from Horyuxian occupation.

September, 2480 - Lunidorian military forces secure an area in Southern Thrax to shelter Lunidorian Nationals and Ethnic Lunidorians in Thrax

December, 2480 - Thrax releases information claiming that Horyuxia planted the WMDs Thraxia was accused of developing. Parts of the Horyuxian Government back this, while other parts deny Thraxian Claims

February, 2481 - Thraxian forces retake Zwingenmölsen, a port city in Southern Thrax with a small Horyuxian occupation force.

{After February, 2481, fighting dies down to mostly skirmishes}

June, 2481 - The International City / Luindor release their report that Thrax had no WMDs. Accusations of bribery call this conclusion into question. The International Concord Coalition Investigation deems there were some Biochemical weapons in Thrax, but it's inconclusive if they were planted or not.

July, 2481 - The International Concord Hearings determine, unanimously, that Horyuxia conducted an unjust invasion and levy sanctions against them. Horyuxian Troops withdraw from Thrax, and Fazarian troops follow.

September, 2482 - The Horyuxian Government is overthrown by a mob of protestors and the Ceironian Union restored. This coup can trace its origins back to the divisions in the country sparked by the war in Thrax.

December, 2482 - Jimarian Troops end their occupation, as the government deems the region has stabilized.

Casualties:

Thraxia: 208,045 Soldiers, 38 Aircraft, ~827,400 Civilians, $232 Billion in Damages to Industry and Infrastructure.

Horyuxia: 129,075 Soldiers, 50 Aircraft

Fazar: 5,312 Soldiers, 10 Aircraft

Jimaria: 7,639 Soldiers, 2 Aircraft

Lunidor: 789 Soldiers

International City: 1 Inspector

Leading up to the election, the ongoing fighting in Thrax and increased terrorist activity in the Cralas Corporate Republic drew seats toward the JUF, and a sharp rise in the LNU under Aijor Halois drew much media attention. Prime Minister Sslath remained popular across the nation, and retained his position as Prime Minister despite a growing divide between Ulgrim and Sslath ideologically.

The fighting in Thrax dominated the first years of Ulgrim's second term, until Jimaria's withdraw in December 2482, controversially having waited a year and a half after fighting had ended and Ceironian and Fazarian forces withdrew, but still managing to withdraw before Lunidor, who did not leave until July 2483.

In January, 2482, government polling for the first time determined that over half of the Jimarian population was fluent in the Jimarian Language, a massive milestone for the project. Specifically, the poll concluded 52.3%, with a 1.5% Margin of Error. This gave Ulgrim and the JUF enough to create the Jimarian National Television Broadcasting Service (JNTBS), a public Jimarian Language television station.

Ulgrim also approved the dispatch of Jimarian Naval and Army forces in the International Coalition against Erdelicht, though by the time the fleet reached its destination, the crisis was nearing its end.

The destruction of the Thraxian economy by the war lead Ulgrim and Sslath to put aside their differences in July 2483 in order to draft a non-partisan economic recovery and infrastructure bill, which combined with a large foreign aid package from Fazar, allowed Jimaria to avoid the worst of the recession.

2483 also saw the international crises around the film "Against the Dying of the Light", directed by Ulni Jark and produced by United Studios, which was almost shot-for-shot replicated by an elderly woman in Karkuss, when Jark sued for violation of copyright, the Karkussian government refused to act, which eventually prompted the passage of the 2483 International Concord Treaty on the Enforcement of International Intellectual Property Protection, which Ulgrim partially helped to draft.

2484 and 85 were less eventful, though in December 2484, Ulgrim approved a proposal from the Fazarian government to take Jimarian Astronauts to the Moon.

The 2485 Election remains a controversial one in Jimarian Politics. Seen by supporters of the WP-JUF Psuedo-Coalition of the last ten years as a major betrayal, President Arhok Ulgrim began campaigning against Prime Minister Sslath months before the election, which some attribute as a major cause behind the lack of notable legislation passed in early 2485. Instead Yarn Sulok, a Human from Eke who had been rising through JUF ranks over the last decade, would be positioned as the front runner to become Prime Minister. The Worker's Party suffered a major loss of 20 seats, and the JUF received a gain of 22.

Despite the tumultuous election, the next 5 years would be relatively uneventful, the largest piece of legislation passed being an inquiry into military reforms that resulted in the production of the first stealth fighters, and with Fazarian help, improve missile defense systems in 2490.

The most important event for Jimaria in the period is usually agreed to be the death of Nuray Tsarok, who passed away in June 2488 at the age of 81. Tsarok was immensely influential in the nation, and is often accredited with creating the modern Jimarian state, between the Jimarian Language Project, the end of the Nobility, the Jimarian Nuclear Power and Weapons programs, and his part in the creation of the International Concord.

The 2490 Election saw a loss of momentum doom the LNU, with a collapse in their support going to bolster the Federal Party significantly as unfulfilled promises caused many in the Lothern regions of the country to loose faith in full independence and settle for the increased regional autonomy of the Federal Party. However some have speculated gerrymandering and voter intimidation are more to blame for the LNU's loss, as in 2495, the LNU regained most of the seats it had lost.

Ulgrim's final term was relatively prosperous for the nation, but largely uneventful. Improvements to internet by 2493 were bringing on a new era, but it would take some time for these to be fully adopted.

Sulok Presidency (2495-Present)

2495 Jimarian National Election

The 2495 Election is often compared to the 2485 Election, in that almost all parties gained or lost a number of seats which brought them close to what they held a decade prior. It also featured tensions between the JUF and WP, which saw Sulok and Sslath reluctantly agree to reform the early Ulgrim era coalition arrangement, Sslath resuming his duties as Prime Minister. Kuli Nurtok Jr. Served as the frontrunner for the Federal Party, though the party ended up losing a number of seats, meanwhile Aijor Halois lead the LNU to a major victory, gaining 20 seats.

After the election, tensions remained between the JUF and WP, so while they have been able to block proposals from the LNU and Federal Party, they have not been able to pass much legislation themselves. This deadlock has left many speculating if the 2500 election might see the incumbent president lose his seat for the first time in 45 years, as the people seek to compromise and put their support fully behind one of the major three parties instead of voting split ticket.
