Royalist Party of Empherias

The Royalist Party of Empherias was a political party in Empherias. It was founded by devout loyalists and monarchists in response to the establishment of the Rhetorist party within the Council of the Elite. The party continued existence through to the establishment of the Parliament of Empherias in 2110 when the Alamekas Pijk took control over the party and steered it towards a more reactionary and patriotic party as the monarchy moved away from politics. It slowly faded from the public perception as their monarchist roots became less important and reactionary policies were taken by other parties such as the Conservatives. The 2201 general election saw the first election where the royalists received zero seats.

The party occasionally received a small number of constituencies, usually as a protest vote against a major party. After the 2395 revolution, the Conservative prime minister Russell Montgomery fled alongside the Rijkse James VII. The incoming Rijkdottir Abigail was sympathetic to the revolution and appointed one of her private secretaries, Maisie Zoey King, to run the country as their new prime minister. Because Zoey King was a member of the Royalist party, being so close to the rijkdottir, she is counted as the final ever Royalist prime minister – despite never being elected. Felix D'laminet, the Populist next prime minister, worked together with Abigail to pass the Monarchist Suppression of Violence Act 2397 which formally disbanded the royalist party, alongside banning any new monarchist parties' creation. This act was repealed in 2418 by the Socialist government led by Elizabeth Rose as part of the wider Normalisation of Politics Post-Revolution Act 2418.
